entry:
There is a time capsure buried beneath the sculpture. Alas, as is the case with too many public sculptures, the base is poorly finished. Here part of the reason is the 'access hatch' that was built into the base of the sculpture for the time capsule. A third figure ('tomorrow'?) stands on the balcony above these two.

Public Art I Observed...
The public art I observed is called Fire Safety for Singapore - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (2002) by an unknown artist. Its patron is the Singapore National Fire Prevention Council. The current location is Central Fire Station, in front of the Civil Defense Heritage Gallery. This artwork functions to demonstrate the importance of fire safety. Contextually, the title of the work emphasizes Central Fire Station’s efforts to protect the city from any dangerous fire accident, as it means safety of yesterday, today and tomorrow is under their responsibility. The form of the sculptures seems to follow realism and naturalism, because the sculptures are depicted to represent realistic life-size human figures.
