I am still fascinated by the economy of the Foundation Stone as a monument. Small but still monumental. Saying nothing but therefore suggesting so much. So open as the descendants project upon it all the possible hopes and fears of the "founders". And it provokes from officialdom a distrust of the very operation of monuments - "no monument can pay a more fitting tribute than the vibrant city and impressive skyline we see today..."
